Pleasantly surprised. I came here for dinner and a few draught beers on a random (rather slow) Thursday night in April and was pleasantly surprised . If you're looking for swanky decor and culinary innovation, then find yourself a different divey beach bar. If you seek surprisingly solid bar food (grouper sandwiches, mahi mahi tacos and jerk chicken specialities) and cold beer at a reasonable price with swift service, then you're in luck. Our server was prompt and from eats to libations, the price was right. 4 stars.

Gave it a shot based on yelp reviews. Place looked beat up, crappy outside tables with dirty old ashtrays. BUT. Had a great burger as well as nicely seasoned peel and eat shrimp. Had the diesel daiquiris 2 for 1 at happy hour. Prices were average. We did the burger, dozen shrimp, daiquiris and the buffalo chicken tenders (they were ok) for round 50 bucks. Definitely worth stopping

Good drinks, good food. We ordered a philly sandwich and a quesadilla. The sandwich wouldn't ring me back but that quesadilla. Hell yes. O man it's so good. They use shrimp and fruits and cream cheese and some spices. It's so good. I'd go back and just order those. I don't know what I need to say to convince you to go there and get this shrimp quesadilla but let's just pretend I said it and you're on your way there now. You won't be sorry. Mmmmm now that I'm all worked up about it- I'll see you there this afternoon. I'll be the one eating the quesadilla. No, I won't share.

Music was very loud to where it's hard to hear/talk. There is a cover :( The frozen drinks were pretty tasty, but that's about the only thing this place has going for it. It's way too loud to here anything and too big, imo, to mingle. It's really a place to eat and drink with friends, at night at least.

Stopped by here for a quick drink after dinner and I am glad I did. I am a sucker for fruity drinks and they had a ton of those here! And boy were they strong. I usually have a high tolerance for my size and after two of these bad boys I was definitely buzzed. Good thing I brought a DD! The first drink I ordered was made wrong, but I didn't care because I really liked it. I ordered the Red, White and Blue (a mix based with margarita) but it came out tasting sweet... Maybe like grape?! Whatever it was, I really enjoyed it. My bartender offered to remake it but I wanted to keep it. The second drink I got was the actual Red, White and Blue. Not as sweet but equally as good. My only complaint is that they were not as frozen as they should have been. My bartender was super sweet and friendly!

Daiquiri Shak has become a staple in mine and my friends favorite beach stops. Living only a few blocks away, it's a great spot to have a good time, good food, drinks and great company. It has improved since I moved to the area in 2010. Whether it's for football, a night out with friends, or coming in for a glass of wine and reading a book, the atmosphere makes anyone and everyone feel welcome. In my experience, the staff has been above and beyond. Management always seems to have things under control and Kelly, Brian and Rachel are a wonderful assets to your team. As someone who works in the hospitality industry on the beach as well, I feel there is a great local, friendly feel, that cannot be found many other places on the beach. Keep up the wonderful work!

Awful thing we ever see cockroach came out on our hand from the table. Never come again

Went here today for lunch and drinks. We sat at the bar and the service was just awful. Bartender was very busy, but 20 minutes just to get a menu and just rude. Food is very average, would not order food again. They do have the variety of slushi drinks and happy hour 2 for 7 dollars, but I wasn't impressed with them either unfortunately.

Incredibly disappointed with this place. Maybe it was the dirty counter tops or the 'casual' conversation from the bartender about how she "would never be the kind of bit@h to poop out a baby from her snat@h like all the hoighty toighty happy tourist moms who come through here.". Her words, not mine. What a filthy disgusting woman... Anyway, after that I just couldn't bring myself to stay any longer than to just finish the beer I had already ordered. I will definitely not be back to this place...

inlove with this place and i dont know why i waited so long to check it out! amazing drinks!so many options on daiquiris/frozen drinks. we did a daiquiri flight which is like 4 different ones in cups. so cute and awesome. has outside seating. we went at like 6-8ish and the sky was so pretty and calm outside. they have inside seating as well which im pretty sure is smoke free so thats awesome. our food was good. our bartender Jen was the best/so into the drinks and explained things etc. 10/10 place/best over on mad beach

Very spacious beach-style bar, with fast and friendly service! The place was packed, but there was plenty of elbow room. The bartenders were busy, but didn't wear their emotions on their sleeves like Lana's Unfriendly Tavern up the road. The service was speedy and with a smile. Didn't eat any of he food, but I'm sure it's great. Live music was going on indoors, but for those who didn't want to hear it, separate music was being played via a Touch Tunes machine outside on the deck. We had a really good time here. The drinks were strong, affordable and the atmosphere was fun. Will definitely return next 4th of July weekend.

Great oysters Ive had this summer. Too bad it's not oyster season anymore. I like to seat outside by the bar.

This place is pretty decent, I like the happy hour the margaritas are pretty decent tasting they have a large selection of different ones. When I went they had a band playing and they was pretty good. I tried the fried onion strings they were pretty good. However do not expect anything to write home about, it is bar food. They have pool tables and located right across the street from Madeira beach which is nice after a day at the in the sun. The only downside to this place is the crowd is older. This is not a place for a younger crowd however it is a nice place to catch a quick drink. I would come back to this place. 3 stars, I have been to better places but it is worth it to give it a try.

New Years Eve is pricey for this location! You are getting one star because you did not offer my designated driver a free soda water on this evening!!! How about some support for not drinking and driving when you are making bank on the other four in the party drinking plenty tonight!?!? Happy New Year!

My husband and I enjoyed the drinks and app after the beach. Bar tender was super nice. Music was really good but I didn't see any younger people besides us there..

Music outside on Saturdays is good. Cuban is good. Not impressed with the pizza. Jerk chicken wrap is good and spicy. Happy hour even on weekends, very nice!

I love this place. My family spent three nights on Madeira Beach and two of them we stopped by Daiquiri Shak for dinner and drinks. It was family friendly with lots of games and the food was delicious at a great price! The employees were very friendly and courteous, I didn't catch the name of the young, tall floor manager but he was their best asset. We will definitely be back next year.

Quick look: it's a touristy looking "dive" bar at first sight. But after eating lunch on the nice outside deck I must admit that the food is rather surprising and can hold it's own w/ the competition in the area. In depth review: we didn't feel like driving for lunch and walked across the street from my parents condo rental to this place. I had low expectations as it resembled a touristy looking "dive bar." The outside deck area was full with a mix of lunch time diners. We were fortunate enough to snag the last open table for our party of six. The young guy waiting on us was very attentive and had some great drink, beer and food suggestions. Draft beer came out in a frozen / chilled pint glass so kudos on that little touch! I ordered the "Dolphin Sandwich" aka the Grouper Sandwich and a side of Sweet Potato Fries. The sandwich came out and I had to take a step back as it was MASSIVE! Large portion of fries as well. Looked and tasted amazing, no complaints. The Grouper was fresh and cooked perfectly. I ordered it "blackened" and recommend this for full flavor. Was shocked at the portion size, how good it was and how affordable it was on the menu. Most menu items are $15 and under. Perhaps one of the best fish sandwiches I have had in this area (and I had had a lot over the years)? My lady had the fish tacos and said they were delicious. The entire table was ranting and raving about their menu selections and everyone agreed that we were all "pleasantly surprised" and that we would all be back soon. By the time we left the entire place including the outside bar was starting to fill in and get busy. One of those places that you might overlook as it is in a mini-mall and looks like a typical local "watering hole." Turns out they make some damn good food too! We all left satisfied and with full bellies!!!

superb holiday bar... great bar tenders, waitresses, extensive drinks, good food, live bands, huge tv screens for the game and really friendly customers.... If I lived in MB i'd never leave this place. You gotta pay a visit for open mic night, brilliant atmosphere....enjoy

Nice spacious beach bar without the sand or view. Located across the street from water but have a good size outdoor bar area. Decent bands and drinks.

When you hit this strip for a beach vacation there are really only two bars within trolley distance that can be easily stumbled to. This one, consistently shows us a great time! There are pool tables, clean restrooms, fun live bands, frozen drinks taps all over, fine draft beer, a great patio, indoor and outdoor bars with fast, friendly service (Unlike Friendly's) and they serve food. Even the patrons are fun and friendly. Will certainly be back next year as always!

Excellent food, fun, and service. This venue has a lot to offer from excellent food, live music, sporting events on TV, games, or just relaxing in an open air environment at the Beach. They also offer trivia night on Tuesdays which is a favorite of mine. Overall, it is a well run establishment with a laid back atmosphere. I highly recommend the Chx. Sandwich 'Buffaloed' with a side dish or the Twisted Mac and Cheese. Although the Salads, Pizza, wings, or wraps have all been a hit with me in the past as well. The place can get a little loud at night when bands play, but you get the bonus of ultra premium people watching. The clientele tends to run the gamut. There is usually a reasonable $3 cover late night for the bands and food is served LATE. There are very few options after 9pm on the beach for food. THIS SHOULD BE ON YOUR LIST.

Met Jeremy at boat ramp and was very friendly. He invited us for a visit. It was well worth it. Looks more like a bar but the food was outstanding. I mean freaking outstanding. I would encourage everyone to make a stop there while on vacation. Fish spread was awesome along with the biggest best wings around. Grouper sandwich was very large and tasteful. The only negative thing was the service was more like bar service but wasn't horrible. Through improved training on being a server instead of an order taker this place would be 5stars.

  • Jessica F.

Came to try out the Daquiris and wasn't very impressed but then again quality isn't what you typically expect when your drink is created by a machine. Nice place if you like dive bar type atmospheres. If it was a little busier and wasn't karaoke night I am sure experience would have been better.

  • Erica A.

The Daq Shak! I had the twisted mac and cheese with grilled chicken. Yummy comfy food. We had the stuffed 'shrooms as an appetizer, try them you will not be disappointed. They had a local band playing called Resinated which is funk reggae. Great atmosphere. Great food. Cold beer. Live music that doesnt suck. It doesnt get better than that.

Wear your favorite Tshirt and Flip Flops. This place is all about "Come As You Are". Beach access right across the street so if you look up sunset time, get a drink 45 min prior, walk over see the sunset and then come back for more drinks and dinner!

Great place to visit on the beach! Staff was amazing and the drinks were great! Met the owner Jeremy and he is a great guy made us feel like family! Will def be back!

On occasion, I go to the Daiquiri Shak for a cold cold drink....As it gets warmer outside this month, I will stop more regularly. Service is good, the location is convenient , and most times parking is easy. It is the best place on Mad Beach for a good lunch, and a good cold (brain freeze cold) drink!

This is a very interesting bar. I like a lot about it- the jukebox, live bands, the pool tables and games, the premise, the deck. Even the staff is alright, but it's not the GREATEST bar I've been to, but definitely not the worst. The daiquiris really are tasty if you're into empty calories.

  • Shawna E.

This place is a total waste. I only go here when I have a coupon and instantly regret coming once I get the food. The food is poor quality and the drinks are expensive and weak. I wonder if they even put any alcohol in the daquiris. Don't waste your time, money or gag reflexs.

    (1)
  • Lindsey B.

Fast and friendly service!! Excellent chocolate cake and a nice place to go mid afternoon for a drink. There's lots to choose from in frozen drink selection.

    (3)
  • Kaitlin E.

People are friendly here, the beer is cold, and the food is yummy. I wasn't a fan of the daiquiris but maybe that's just because I'm not into sugary drinks. My favorites on the menu are the buffalo chicken pizza and the grilled grouper bites.

Absolutely horrible. Went here on my 21st birthday at midnight in June of 2014 because it was a Monday night, just wanted to get a drink with my 5 other girl friends. The waitress came to our table maybe twice, and wasn't even happy or didn't say anything about my birthday. The daquiris were horrible, they're liquid and taste just like the syrup. Weren't frozen or pretty or anything, they came in a plastic cup. I went again, yesterday in march 2015, absolutely horrible again. I got another daquiri, same exact thing. Couldn't taste one drop of alcohol and neither could my boyfriend. I never ever send food/drinks back but I told our waitress I didn't want it. Our waitress was nice, but the girl who was following her around (training) was just not happy. We only ordered appetizers which weren't good, the mushrooms were so chewy. When we left the waitress in training dropped our receipt off at our table and said ...this is for you...didn't even look at us or anything. Just don't go.

Not great. Outside deck is in a parking lot. We sat at the bar. We ordered a couple of daiquiris and they were made with syrup. No fresh fruit in them at all. It said it was a raw bar too so I ordered a dozen oysters. They were really expensive $16.99. Lots of people smoking in the outside deck. We bagged it after the oysters.

I highly recommend this large dive bar for live music. Kevin Toon has a great voice, is a good guitarist, is very engaging and, I believe, a regular at Daiquiri Shak. The view of the elevated stage is great from many many tables. Their pina coladas are delicious. A special treat for me was the skeeball machine. I'm so glad we stopped here to enjoy the entertainment and happy atmosphere.

  • Dale S.

Asked the waitress how the Oysters were and she wrinkled her nose and rolled her eyes. I asked if that meant they were bad? She said she didn't know because she hates seafood. Terrible presentation. Should have said she had an allergy instead of letting her poor attitude come through. Rest of her service was mediocre at best.

This used to be the Daiquiri Deck, but they changed the name. I've never been here before so I couldn't tell you why the name change. Anyways finished the night out here for my best friends birthday and must say this is a fun spot. We sat out on the deck and had a blast. If for nothing else go here to just people watch. All kind of different personalities show up here. Anyways on to the drinks. I'm not normally a frozen drink kind of girl, but these drinks were awesome. Its very rare for me that when I order a drink it taste like the description, but these did for sure. The prices are pretty good as well. Oh then we ordered the white pizza and it was one of the best pizzas I have had in a long time. I wish I would have gotten our waitress name cause she was awesome. This place is about a 45 min drive for me, but I wouldn't mind the drive again.

Nice beachy atmosphere and a large selection of drinks. Food is great and reasonably priced...Happy Hour specials weekly 4-6 and entertainment. Daiquiri shak has a large indoor space for weekend entertainment on stage. Daytime atmosphere with family entertainment, pool tables, and TVs.

So my travel companion was hankering for "one of those GIANT tropical drinks" so he could take pictures and send them to his buddies who were freezing their butts off back in North Dakota. Daiquiri Deck was the right choice! There are three seating areas: the main bar inside downstairs, a second bar outside (partially enclosed) with a sandy patch of "beach" in front of it to play drunken games on, and an upstairs, outdoor patio area where they play live music. We visited all three areas. If you like frozen drinks, this is the place for you! They have about 12 'standard' frozen concoctions to choose from, then about 12 more 'blends' of the standards mixed together into heavenly creations, then on top of that you can customize your own. We both opted for creations off the menu in their GIANT-sized souvenir cups (see pics). Our servers (both downstairs and upstairs) were friendly and helpful. The drinks were DELICIOUS. We had a great time. I recommend giving them a try. P.S. The food looked good, but we didn't order any. P.P.S. If you sit upstairs on the deck, keep an eye out for these teeny tiny orange-colored bugs (aphids? mites?) that seem to love the white tables and canopy around the perimeter of the deck, at least when we were there in late-February. These little buggers (haha) were EVERYWHERE -- on me, on the table, in my drink(!!!) I kept myself busy fishing them out of my daiquiri, so as not to swallow any. Most ppl may not even notice them, as they are sooo small... but a bug is a bug is a bug to me. That was the only single drawback of our visit. P.P.P.S. If you plan on getting hammered, avoid the upstairs deck. The stairs going back down are S-T-E-E-P!

This is the second time that we have gone to Daiquiri Shak and the second time that we got a call from our credit card company that our number was stolen and used somewhere else. Both times from the same Madeira Beach location; we won't be going back and we recommend you consider using cash!

Maybe it was an off day, but the draft beer at the inside bar was terrible. The lines were obviously in need of a through cleaning. The black beans and rice were very good, but everything else was just so-so bar fare.

Bottom line Daiquiri Shak is very chill and laid back. Went there tonight while my Wife and I were driving down Gulf Blvd just looking for a place to eat, but not fancy so this place jumped out for my wife. She had a Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri I had a Coke. I should of got a Beer. Anyway we both got burgers. One of the Manangers came over to check how we were doing and we talked to her for a second, she was very nice and personable. The wait staff were friendly, no grumps here. I asked if they could change the TV chanel to the Rays and Padre Game and did right a way. Over all we will be back because it has a cool atmosphere and they also have a nice stage for local acts after 10.

This place is kind of a dump. It is a nice place to stop and have a drink or two outside. I was not comfortable ordering any food here. It certainly does attract a diverse and interesting crowd.

I can't deny that there's something about beach air that makes it ok for a burly, bearded man like myself to enjoy a fruity frozen drink time and again. Daquiri Deck is a great place to have a few of them. My favorite is the Patriot. 2nd place for me is... I think it's called Deck Diesel? Jet Fuel? I don't remember. Not because of bad memory though, just a side effect of drinking a couple of them. The drinks seem weak at first, but complain about the wussyness of the drink AFTER you stand up. The wait staff is fairly chill, but beware of the salty vets that hang out at the outside bar. Definitely go if you get the chance. Get sloshed, have a 7eleven sandwich, and go to the beach and chill.

  • Peter C.

Cheap, loud and tasty. I've been coming to the Mad Beach area for years, and this place is always in the rotation. It's great for a tasty lunch with a cold beer or cocktail, and everything is reasonably priced. At night, it gets loud. Uncomfortably so. But I've still gone with friend and had a good time, you just have to be prepared for the experience. Overall, I prefer it as a daytime beach bar.

I have no idea what happened to this place but the food was absolutely horrible! The service was not much better and the drinks were just as bad. What happened? !? Please don't waste your time or your money by coming here and eating. It is such a shame that this place went from so good so bad.

  • Heather P.

I have to admit that my first thought was that the Daiquiri Deck would be trashy yet fun, but I ended up really liking it. The service we received was incredibly friendly and expedient. We sat on the patio, blissed out with frozen drinks under the stars. They have 32 (yes, I counted) recipes of frozen drinks on the menu, although about half seemed to be mixtures of two or more of the other half. I got an Electric Lemonade, good although not sour enough (a couple lemon wedges fixed that.) Boyfriend got the Mandango, which was more strawberry than mango and sweet as sin. The menu is also pretty expansive, with lots of appetizers, sandwiches, salads, and plenty of fish. They also serve oysters and peel-n-eat shrimp, neither my thing. We ordered chicken nachos and were served a massive mess of a platter that was yummy, crunchy, and spicy, with house-made salsa. We also ordered chicken tenders with wing sauce. I am something of a buffalo sauce connoisseur, and I give two thumbs up to both the sauce and the ranch. Our bill was reasonable at the end of the night, perhaps because the drinks were so strong we didn't need more than one each. Also, the place wasn't very loud and there wasn't a cover, so I guess they don't do live music every night. They were playing 80's music complete with videos, though, and Boyfriend loves cheesy 80's shit, so bonus there. As a final note, I have to commend this place on their ladies' room. Bars aren't known for their pleasant bathrooms, but this one is all tile borders and fresh smells and - say WHAT - a Koala Care changing table. With extra-private stalls with walls that damn near touch the floor. Seriously, if you're a dive bar and you want to win the hearts and minds of your female clientele, a nice bathroom is the way to do it. Snaps for Daiquiri Deck.

Mahi tacos were mediocre at best - not enough fish in the taco...the atmosphere is perfect outdoors! The staff is great and always ready to help. Happy hour is great and drinks were good. Fair pricing for beach food...

No, Lisa I am not 65 years old, no where near. I just know a dump when I see it! Being from Rochester would explain many things though, like your lack of taste as well as social grace. There is one good thing about you, YOU DON'T LIVE HERE!

  • Shelly M.

This is a great place for Happy hour. 2 for 1!!! Not a big fan of the late night stuff here because it gets so crowded and there is a cover charge. There is no smoking inside but there is a patio and tiki bar outside. Its not on the water but across the street. The waitstaff are friendly, the drinks are yummy and I can walk there from my house!

Good food, friendly young staff, great live music, good place to watch sports games, good place to go have drinks and dance with friends! Amazing daiquiri menu, the diesel fuel is awesome!! Extensive food menu, theres something for every taste- everything always tastes good and not bad prices. I live right down the road and go there often!

Great bar to watch games, eat, and drink. Good beer selection but ya gotta go there to suck down the frozen stuff. The only danger is the infamous brain freeze if you drink to fast., Huge menu so you have a lot of choices. Hit the website and you will see what I mean. I highly suggest a designated driver.

As soon as we walked in, we knew we found a good spot. It was clean, nice cold air, friendly staff, a great menu & fantastic drink selection. 6 daiquiris cost $15.00, = good deal in my book! We'll be back soon no doubt!

Previously know as Daiquiri Deck, the Shak is an awesome place on the beach. The staff makes you feel like family and the food is always good. I have been going here for years and have never had a bad experience. They also have amazing entertainment with the top local bands. If you are in the Madeira Beach area, I would definitely recommend you try the Daiquiri Shak!!!!

Nice outside seating but it goes downhill from there. It wasn't even that busy but taking forever to get drinks. Our first appetizer took over 20 minutes and it was the wrong one. She took it away and eventually came back and told us that was the appetizer for a another table. While waiting for the correct appetizer another waitress came by to deliver the food for another table that we didn't order. She went table to table asking. Almost 30 minutes later our first appetizer arrives. Not too bad, but spinach dip shouldn't take this long though. The raw oysters and fish sandwiches were good too. It continued to take at least 10 minutes to get our drinks each time we ordered. There seems to be real issues with putting in orders and getting food and drinks out to the correct tables at this restaurant. Also despite the name change and new sign nothing has been updated in years at this place, but grungy is what I remembered from my last visit 4 years ago so it wasn't unexpected. The kitchen made decent food but with the service being so slow I won't be going back here unless I am really craving frozen daiquiris and sitting around a bunch of drunk people smoking cigarettes for hours.

We stopped there for one daiquiri after a very hot game of golf. We walked out 5 hours later. Lots of fun, great drinks and pretty good appetizers.

The name made me think it was going to be a fun, beachy sort of bar but it was just an ordinary dark, stuffy bar. The inside didn't really flow so I always felt like I was standing in the walkway. I did have one of the frozen drinks- the electric lemonade, I think and that was really good and surprisingly strong.
